2nd Maritime Makerspace (Sustainability - Life Below Water)
What can you expect from the Makerspace?
During the Makerspace, you will learn
- how to collaboratively develop solutions for teaching sustainability through international cooperation,
- how climate change is linked to the topic of water and what challenges and opportunities arise from it,
- how to use 3D printing specifically and effectively in the classroom to teach sustainability topics in a practical and illustrative way,
- how to inspire students and make the topic of sustainability tangible and relatable, especially in the context of water, and, of course,
- all about the central role of the SDG “Life Below Water” in protecting bodies of water and their ecosystems.
How does it work?
The makerspace combines virtual learning, practical applications, and final reflection, divided into 3 phases:
Phases of the Makerspace
Phase 1: Virtual learning
28 April & 05 May
In this first phase, you will meet online with the other participants. Together, you will be introduced to the topic of “Sustainability and Life Below Water”. While working in groups, you will develop ideas for teaching and learning units that will later serve as the basis for your projects.
Phase 2: On-site work in Cologne
12 - 14 May
In the second phase, you will travel to Cologne (see below if you are eligible for funding!) where exciting activities await you:
- exploring the city and the University of Cologne,
- further development and implementation of your projects with a school class, as well as
- participation in a practice-oriented 3D printing workshop.
Phase 3: Online reflection and follow-up
19 & 26 May
In the final phase, all participants meet online once again to reflect on your experiences, discuss the results of the projects and to exchange ideas on how to apply what you have learned in your job or studies.
