How do teachers imagine the future of education in a rapidly changing world? This new study from the Erasmus+ Teacher Academy “Teacher Education for a Future in Flux” (teff), lead and realized by the University of Helsinki, explores futures thinking among more than 500 pre-service and in-service teachers across Europe. Drawing on both quantitative and qualitative data, the research reveals how teachers perceive their agency, responsibility, and openness toward shaping alternative futures for schools and society. The findings offer valuable insights for rethinking teacher education and strengthening educators’ capacity to navigate uncertainty and drive sustainable change.
